Matching Points With The March Block of the Month

What does pressing seams have to do with matching points? If you’ve listened to quilters talk about their pressing preferences (open, to the dark side, both, etc.,) you might have heard them talking about reducing bulk in the back or preventing seams from showing through lighter fabric.

Personally, one of the reasons why I recommend pressing open (at certain times) is to give quilters the opportunity to see how their points will match as they sew through intersecting points. The March block of the Sweet Potato Block of the Month Party recommends doing this at certain points when piecing with HSTs and QSTs. Check out my explanation at the video below:
